General description

2つのエクソンを持つアクチビンA遺伝子は、ヒト染色体2q35にマッピングされています。インヒビンα-サブユニットとしても知られるアクチビンAは、タンパク質のTGF-β(形質転換増殖因子-β)スーパーファミリーに属しており、その発現は生殖腺、胎盤および副腎皮質に限られます。

Application

ヒトアクチビンAは、in vitroでの前腎の誘導に用いる修正Barth（バース）生理食塩水の成分として使用されています。′[1]また、in vitroで多能性皮膚線維芽細胞の膵臓分化を誘導する目的で、Roswell Park記念研究所（RPMI）培地の成分としても使用されています。

Biochem/physiol Actions

アクチビンは、ホルモン産生、細胞の恒常性および分化プログラムの制御において重要な役割を果たします。[2]アクチビンAおよびBの発現が増加すると、筋量が減少します。アクチビンAとBは、どちらも慢性疲労症候群／筋肉痛性脳脊髄炎（CFS/ME）の血清マーカーとして機能する可能性があります。
