General description
ペプチドグリカンは、グラム陽性菌の細胞壁の主成分であるバイオポリマーです。ペプチドグリカンは、N-アセチルグルコサミンとN-アセチルムラミン酸が交互に配列された単位で構成された炭水化物主骨格で構成され、D-アミノ酸とL-アミノ酸の両方によって修飾されます。N-アセチルムラミン酸残基はオリゴペプチドによって架橋されます。末端ペプチドはD-アラニンですが、それ以外のアミン酸はD型異性体として存在します。
Application
ペプチドグリカンは溶菌酵素（溶菌酵素など）の活性評価に使用できます。ペプチドグリカン濃度が0.15～3 μg/mLになるように水または緩衝液に溶かし、450 nmで測定することが推奨されます。ペプチドグリカンは水に溶けず、懸濁液になります。
ペプチドグリカンは、リンパ球を刺激するために哺乳類細胞内に存在し、Toll様受容体2（TLR2）を活性化します。ポリ(I:C)アンタゴニストとしての役割も果たします。
