    1. It is prepared by the reaction of silica gel with n-octadecyltrichlorosilane. After hydrolysis of the unreacted chloro groups, silanol groups on the silica are blocked with trimethylsilyl groups.

    1. One can usually start with 40-50% chloroform in methanol and see if that cleans the resin. If not, try increasing the chloroform content gradually until it is 100%.
