Informazioni sul gene

human ... CYP1B1(1545)

Descrizione generale

The Cytochrome P4501B1 (CYP1B1) gene with three exons and two introns is mapped to human chromosome 2p21-22. The 543 amino acid protein encoded by this gene is expressed mainly in the adrenals, ovary. The protein is a member of cytochrome P4501, a subfamily of CYP1 family .
CYP1B1 is deprived of a consensus TATA box in the promoter region and it is characterized with nine tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) responsive enhancer core binding motifs present within a 2.5kb pair genomic fragment of the transcription initiation start site.

Immunogeno

cytochrome P450, family 1, subfamily B, polypeptide 1 recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

Applicazioni

All Prestige Antibodies®Powered by Atlas Antibodies is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. We also provide Prestige Antibodies® protocols and other useful information.

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Tissue distribution pattern analysis shows that cytochrome P4501B1 (CYP1B1) plays a vital role in metabolism of xenobiotics and possibly steroid hormones. CYP1B1 might be responsible for the metabolism of biologically active molecule associated with eye development. Any truncating mutation of the gene coding for this protein causes primary congenital glaucoma. Isoflavone genistein stimulates the gene expression of CYP1B1, which plays a vital role in human breast cancer development and progression. CYP1B1 enzyme catalyzes the conversion of pro-carcinogens to carcinogens and also facilitates estrogen metabolism. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of CYP1B1 might enhance susceptibility and pathological development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in Chinese population.

Caratteristiche e vantaggi

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.
