For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

18-Crown-6 is the simplest crown ether that can be prepared by reacting triethylene glycol with triethylene glycol dichloride in the presence of potassium hydroxide as a base. 18-Crown-6 can solubilize metal salts, particularly potassium salts, in nonpolar and dipolar aprotic solvents. Thus, it is widely used as a phase transfer catalyst. It can also be used as a metal complexing agent to prepare a variety of molecular complexes.[3][4]
Applicazioni
- N-alkylation of heterocyclic compounds in the presence of tert-butoxide base.[5]
- Allylation of aldehydes to corresponding homoallylic alcohols using potassium allyltrifluoroborate.[6]
- Preparation of N-propargylpyrrole by the reaction of pyrrole with potassium hydroxide.[4]
- Polymerization of methacrylic esters and hindered alkyl acrylates.[4]
- Chemoselective reduction of fused tetrazoles with NaBH4 and potassium hydroxide.[7]

How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.
