Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) is an anionic lipid [1] and is present in the plasma membrane (PM).[2]

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) is a lipid messenger. It controls exocytosis, actin cytoskeleton dynamics and endocytosis.[3] It also plays a key role in signal transduction, vesicle trafficking and motility.[4] The azido functional group in the lipid may involve in a copper-catalyzed reaction to form click reaction.[5]
