Allgemeine Beschreibung

3-Hydroxy-5-methylisoxazole, also known as Hymexazol, is a hydrophilic organic molecule containing both a hydroxy group and a nitrogen atom, which enable it to act as a co-hydrogelator with other components to form self-delivery supramolecular hydrogels. [1]

Anwendung

3-Hydroxy-5-methylisoxazole can be used as a reactant to synthesize:
  • 3-Oxoisoxazole-2(3H)-carboxamides by reacting with dimethyl-carbamoyl chloride in the presence of potassium t-butoxide[2].
  • Hydroxymethyl-2-propen-1-yl-5-methyl-3(2H)-isoxazolone via ring-opening reaction with vinyl oxirane[3].
