Chemische Struktur: Makrolid

Anwendung

Rifampicin wird zur Behandlung von Tuberkulose und Tuberkulose-ähnlichen mykobakteriellen Infektionen verwendet[1]. Es wird weithin als juckreizhemmendes Mittel bei primär biliärer Zirrhose (PBC), einer autoimmunen cholestatischen Lebererkrankung, verwendet. Es wurde festgestellt, dass es Hepatitis auslösen kann[2].

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Rifampicin hemmt den Zusammenschluss von DNA und Proteinen zu reifen Viruspartikeln. Es hemmt die Initiation der RNA-Synthese durch Bindung an die β-Untereinheit der RNA-Polymerase, was zum Zelltod führt[1].

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.

    1. Rifampicin is soluble in CHCl3. Additionally, it is soluble in water at pH 4.3 (1.3 mg/ml), methanol (25 mg/ml), DMSO (25 mg/ml), dimethyl sulfoxide, tetrahydrofuran, and water at pH 7.3 (2.5 mg/ml at 25°C).

    1. This product in its powder form is stable for short periods of time (i.e., the shipping process), at ambient temperature.  For long term storage it is best to store it at -20°C.

    1. The potency is determined from a microbiological assay (USP XXII) for antibiotics, a 2-level assay. The test organism is Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633. The minimum dose is 4.0 μg/ml and the maximum dose is 8.0 μg/ml.
