Phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-triphosphate (PI(3,4,5)P3) is localized to the plasma membrane, intracellular sites and the nucleus.[1]

Application

17:0-20:4 PI(3,4,5)P3 or 1-heptadecanoyl-2-(5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z-eicosatetraenoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1′-myo-inositol-3′,4′,5′-trisphosphate) has been used:
  • as a lipid standard in ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC/MS)[2]
  • as an internal standard in lipid extraction from Drosophila larval tissues[3]
  • as an internal standard in liquid chromatography tandem mass spectroscopic (LC-MS/MS) analysis of methylated phosphatidylinositol phosphates (PIPs)[4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-triphosphate (PI(3,4,5)P3) is involved in protein activation. It is a critical signaling molecule for several cellular processes[5] and acts as a secondary messenger.[6] PI(3,4,5)P3 is also implicated in human pathogenesis.[5]
