General description

A component of membrane-bound receptors in association with phospholipase C (PLC). Potently stimulates brain phospholipase D (PLD) activity in vitro. Has been shown to activate protein kinase C (PKC) in the presence of phosphatidylserine and Ca2+. Antagonist of ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels when applied to inside-out membrane patches.
A component of membrane-bound receptors in association with phospholipase C. Hydrolysis of PIP2 yields IP3 and diacylglycerol, causing the release of intracellular Ca2+ and activation of protein kinase C. Potently stimulates phospholipase D activity in vitro in brain tissue. A substrate for PI 3-kinase. Antagonist of ATP inhibtion of ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels when applied to inside-out membrane patches.

Note: This product is not to be used for animal treatment, in vivo research or in any other contact procedure with livestock.

Phosphatidylinositol phosphates (PIPs) are involved in many cellular events as important secondary messengers. In Entamoeba histolytica, a human intestinal protozoan parasite, virulence-associated mechanisms such as cell motility, vesicular traffic, trogo- and phagocytosis are regulated by PIPs. It has been well

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels couple electrical activity to cellular metabolism through their inhibition by intracellular ATP. ATP inhibition of KATP channels varies among tissues and is affected by the metabolic and regulatory state of individual cells, suggesting involvement

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels couple cell metabolism to electrical activity. Phosphatidylinositol phosphates (PIPs) profoundly antagonized ATP inhibition of KATP channels when applied to inside-out membrane patches. It is proposed that membrane-incorporated PIPs can bind to positive charges in

The activation of phospholipase D (PLD) is a receptor-mediated event that has been implicated in signal transduction and membrane traffic in eukaryotic cells. Little is known about the biochemical and molecular properties of signal-activated PLDs, and none has been isolated.
