Applicazioni

Fast Green FCF dye is used for protein staining in IEF, native PAGE and SDS-PAGE. Fast Green staining is linear over a wider range of protein concentrations than Brilliant Blue R. After electrophoresis, fixing the proteins in the gel is recommended for maximum sensitivity. The gel can then be stained for 2 hr with 0.1% Fast Green FCF in either 30% (v/v) ethanol, 10% (v/v) acetic acid or in 7% acetic acid. The gel can be destained with either 30% (v/v) ethanol, 10% (v/v) acetic acid, or 7% acetic acid. The stained gel can be scanned at 625 nm. The detection sensitivity is approx. 30% that with Brilliant Blue R.
Fast Green FCF has been used:
  • along with safranin for the staining of nodule sections[1]
  • in the collagen deposit staining procedure[2]
  • for the staining of protein and starch[3]
  • as a dye to detect and inject DNA solution in chicken embryo[4]

Compatibilità

Certified for the safranin-fast green FCF stain for plant cells; as a substitute for aniline blue in Gomori′s one-step trichrome procedure.

The engraftment of human stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hSC-CMs) is a promising treatment for remuscularizing the heart wall post-infarction, but it is plagued by low survival of transplanted cells. We hypothesize that this low survival rate is due to continued ischemia

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. What is the proper method to prepare Fast Green FCF for use as a counterstain?

    1 answer
    1. Solutions of Fast Green FCF are used much like solutions of Light Green SF Yellowish. The advantage of using Fast Green FCF is generally that the stain is more intense. The working solution is typically prepared fresh each day or used for a short period of time.

  2. Looking for a green dye to add to electrolyzed water. Something biodegradable that will disappear fast on skin.

    1 answer
    1. It is advised to source a FD&C (Food, Drug & Cosmetic) grade dye for use on human skin. Assuming there is suitable electrolyzed water, green food coloring should suffice for the intended purpose. The duration for which the dye remains on the skin would depend on factors such as the pH of the water used and the specific characteristics of the dye, which the customer would need to determine.
