Informações sobre genes

human ... GPR31(2853)

Descrição geral

The gene GPR31 (G protein-coupled receptor 31) encodes a member of the GPCR family. The proteins belonging to this family are characterized by the presence of seven transmembrane domains. The encoded protein is around 319 amino acid long and belongs to the rhodopsin-like group A subfamily. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 6q27.

Probable G-protein coupled receptor 31 recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

Aplicação

All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. We also provide Prestige Antibodies® protocols and other useful information.

Ações bioquímicas/fisiológicas

The gene GPR31 (G protein-coupled receptor 31) encodes an orphan G protein-coupled receptor that binds to 12-(S)-hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid (HETE), a human 12-lipoxygenase-derived product. It is localized to the plasma membrane and is also referred to as 12-HETER (12-(S)-HETE receptor). It also binds to 12-(S)-HETE hydroxyl fatty acids with high affinity. The binding partner, 12-(S)-HETE, functions in several processes including cytoskeleton remodeling, stimulation of cells to secrete proteinases and vascular endothelial growth factor resulting in an angiogenic response. The binding of 12-(S)-HETE to GPR31 activates MEK (MAPK/ERK kinase), ERK1/2 (extracelular signal regulated kinase), and NFκB (nuclear factor) signaling molecules. This ligand-receptor complex is also involved in the regulation of tumor cell invasion.

Características e benefícios

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

The screening of a human genomic library with a chemokine receptor-like probe allowed us to obtain a putative member of the G protein-coupled receptor gene (GPCR) family, designated GPR31. Its deduced amino acid sequence encodes a polypeptide of 319 amino
