General description

Features and Benefits

Questions

1–10 of 14 Questions
  1. What grade is D9891? Is it food-grade?

    1 answer
    1. This product is not food-grade. Unless otherwise stated, this product is intended for research use only. It is not suitable for any other purpose, which includes, but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial use, in vitro diagnostic use, or therapeutic use in humans or animals.
Unfortunately, a food grade Doxycycline hyclate product is not currently offered.

      Helpful?

  2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
For more information, please refer to the Product Dating Information document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/418/501/product-dating-information-06-25-mk.pdf

  3. What is the potency in µg/mg of Product D9891, Doxycycline Hyclate?

    1 answer
    1. The potency of this product has not been tested.

      Helpful?

  4. Does this powder if stored in dark at 4 degree expires? Doxycycline hyclate, Product D9891

    1 answer
    1. This product is assigned an expiration date of 4 years from the date of Quality Release. The expiration date is lot specific and reported on the product label and the Certificate of Analysis. The recommended storage temperature range is 2 - 8°C. Please see the link below to review additional information available in the product datasheet:

  5. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

      Helpful?

  6. What is the expiration date of Doxycycline hyclate(powder, not solution) from the date of purchase?

    1 answer
    1. This product is not assigned an expiration date. It is assigned a recommended retest date of approximately 3.5 years after the quality release date. A recommended retest date is the period of time during which the product is expected to remain within established stability specifications, provided that it has been stored under defined conditions. After the Retest Date, product samples should be examined to ensure that the product is still in compliance with the established specifications. For more information, you may access the "Product Dating Information" document under "ADDITIONAL USEFUL DOCUMENTS ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS" at the bottom of the Quality Services page with this link: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/US/en/life-science/quality-and-regulatory-management/quality-services.

  7. Once reconstituted in water, can Doxycycline hyclate be stored long-term at -20°C ?

    1 answer
    1. Aqueous solutions of Doxycycline are light sensitive and should be used within 48 hours. The long term stability of aqueous solutions at -20°C has not been evaluated. However, the Doxycycline HCl Ready Made solution is prepared at 100 mg/ml in DMSO. This product is assigned a shelf life of 1 year and is stored at -20°C.
