Polyphosphoric acid (PPA) is an inorganic acid. Galangin-KMnO4-PPA system has been employed for the determination of tryptophan.[1] It participates in the Skraup reaction.[2] It is widely employed reagent for the alkylation and acylation reactions of aromatic and alkenic compounds.[3]
