Descrição geral

Polypyrrole (PPy) is a conductive and highly stable polymer. It may be prepared by a standard electrochemical technique.[1] PPy may also be prepared by reacting β-napthalene sulfonic acid (NSA) and ammonium peroxo-disulphate in aqueous medium.[2] The charges on the surfaces can be easily modified by doping the polymer during its synthesis.[3]Solubility and conductivity measurements of PPy doped with camphor sulfonic and dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid has been reported.[4] Electrosensitivity and lower oxidation potential of PPy make it potentially useful for drug delivery, chemical sensors, batteries, ion selective electrodes, biosensor and biochemistry research. 5[5]
Polypyrrole (PPy) is a widely used heterocyclic polymer that is highly conductive and is majorly used in electrochemical applications. It is a cost efficient conducting polymer that has a stable oxidation and high solubility in water. It has a high degree of flexibility than polyaniline and has a density that facilitates a higher capacitance per unit volume.[6][7][8][9]

Aplicação

Conducting polymer.
Conductive additive for thermoplasitics and thermosets.
Inherently conducting polymer based additive. Loading of polypyrrole in carbon black typically 20%. Stable up to at least 300°C in air.
PPy is mainly used in the fabrication of a variety of electrochemical devices which include supercapacitors,[10][11] chemical sensors,[12] dye sensitized solar cells and lithium-ion batteries.[13]

Questions

  1. what is the density, molecular weight, and particle size.

    1 answer
    1. This product is supplied as an insoluble black solid. The material consists of approximately 80 percent carbon black, 20 percent polypyrrole, and a proprietary amount of an organic sulfonic acid dopant. The bulk density is not determined. Due to the high carbon black content, the compound is expected to be quite 'fluffy'. The molecular weight is also not determined. The average particle size is approximately 40 nm by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) when fully dispersed. The powder form as provided is not dispersed and may form clumps or chunks.
