Biochem/physiol Actions
Withaferin A ist ein steroidales Lacton, das aus der Pflanze Withania somnifera isoliert wird. Es hat stark entzündungshemmende Eigenschaften, da es die Aktivierung des NF-κ-B-Signalweges hemmt. Die Anti-Tumor-Aktivität von Withaferin A ist auf seine Fähigkeit zurückzuführen, die Zytoskelettarchitektur zu verändern, indem es Annexin II bindet und die F-Aktin-Quervernetzungen unterbricht. Withaferin A hemmt auch die Angiogenese durch Bindung an Vimentin und F-Aktin.
Steroidales Lacton, das eine Zytotoxizität gegenüber Tumorzellen aufweist. Schützende Wirkungen, die auf eine antilipidperoxidative, antioxidative und entgiftende Funktion zurückgeführt werden.
