Ebselen ist ein sympathomimetisches Amin.[1]
Application
Biochem/physiol Actions
Ebselen, ein Glutathionperoxidase-Mimetikum, löst eine anti-inflammatorische Aktivität aus.[1] Darüber hinaus hat es eine anti-atherosklerotische Funktion. Ebselen weist eine antibakterielle Wirkung auf multiresistente Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)-Infektionen auf und könnte potenziell ein therapeutisches Ziel für die Behandlung von Hautentzündungen auf MRSA-Basis sein.[5] Es wird als neuroprotektives Mittel betrachtet, das eine chemopräventive Funktionalität bei einer mit Entzündungen assoziierten Karzinogenese auslöst.[6]
Eine Organoselenverbindung mit antioxidativen Eigenschaften. Hemmt bei Säugetieren unter Abwesenheit von Thiolgruppen die Lipoxygenasen und die Glutathion-S-Transferase sowie Papain mittels der Interaktion mit Zysteinresten. Hemmt außerdem Indoleamin-2,3-Dioxygenase durch kovalente Modifikation eines Zysteinrests, wobei die Wirkung mit Dithiothreitol reversibel ist.[7] Hemmt die Oxidation von Lipoproteinen niedriger Dichte (LDL).

Hello, we recently ordered this product (Ebselen, Cat# E3520). I dissolved it in DMSO (5 mg/mL) and plan to use it in cell experiments. However, I just noticed that the purity is ≥98% (TLC). Would this be suitable for cell-based experiments.Thank you.
