Ebselen Oxide is an oxidative product of ebselen containing selenoxide group. Unlike ebselen, it lacks anti-oxidative property. Ebselen oxide may suppress human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) replication by inhibiting HIV-1 capsid protein, similar to ebselen.[1]

Ebselen oxide is a potent inhibitor of α-Methylacyl coenzyme A racemase (AMACR).
