General description

Nivalenol is a potential trichothecene mycotoxin, produced by Fusarium nivale.[1],[2] Genotoxicity of nivalenol is evaluated by alkaline single-cell gel electrophoresis assay.[2]
Nivalenol is a secondary metabolite produced by Fusarium species, which is a plant pathogenic fungus of wheat and other cereals.

Nivalenol was used as standard to investigate in vitro mycotoxin binding of deoxynivalenol and nivalenol by adsorbent materials (activated carbon).[3]
