Description

General description

Polymyxin B sulfate is a mixture of closely related cyclic polypeptides produced by Bacillus polymyxa. It disrupts the integrity of Gram-negative bacterial membranes by binding to lipopolysaccharides. The USP reference standard is used in microbiological potency assays and system suitability testing.
