The antibody E1-2.5 recognizes repetitive Gly-Ala region of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA-1). EBNA-1 is the only viral protein consistently expressed in all malignancies associated with EBV.
Immunogen
EBNA-1
Biochem/physiol Actions
Epstein–Barr nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA-1) plays an essential role in the replication of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) genome as an extrachromosomal element. In addition, it also regulates transcription of a EBV latent gene expression. EBNA-1 is essential for maintenance of EBV in episomal form.
