顺式克罗米酚是一种非甾体雌激素受体拮抗剂，可促进睾丸分泌促性腺激素依赖性睾酮。顺式克罗米酚是克罗米芬的反式异构体，约为反式（顺式克罗米酚）和顺式（逆式克罗米酚）的 60-40 混合物。顺式克罗米酚（反式克罗米酚）是一种雌激素拮抗剂，而逆式克罗米酚（顺式克罗米酚）是一种混合激动剂，具有雌激素活性，因此常见的副作用有时见于男性。顺式克罗米酚异构体负责抗雌激素活性和下丘脑-垂体-性腺轴的恢复。在最近的临床试验中，顺式克罗米酚使继发性性腺机能减退男性的血清 LH 和 FSH 升高，同时睾酮升高。顺式克罗米酚表现出总体上优于睾酮凝胶的效果，睾酮凝胶可升高血清睾酮，但同时可降低 LH 和 FSH。
