生化／生理作用

The gene XRCC5 (X-ray repair cross complementing 5) is mapped to human chromosome 2q35.[1] It is part of the non-homologous end joining double-strand break repair pathway. XRCC5 helps in damage recognition. Mutations in the gene are associated with risk of glioma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).[2][3] Mutation in it might also be linked with gastric cancer development, particularly in cases of family history.[4] XRCC5 is also involved in alcohol dependence.[5] In addition, it is a part of the OCFRE (osteocalcin (OC) fibroblast growth factor (FGF) response element (FRE))-binding complex, thereby controlling the gene expression of osteocalcin.[6]
