Vamidothion belongs to the class of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) which act as cholinesterase inhibitors and are utilized for protection of crops against spiders, mites, aphids, beetles, caterpillars, etc.[1]

Vamidothion may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in:
  • Aqueous samples[1][2] by direct injection using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)[1] as well as hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) with MS/MS.[2]
  • Biological samples by gas chromatography in conjunction with mass-selective detection (GC-MSD).[3]
