In lithium ion batteries (LIBs) the redox shuttles are employed to prevent overcharging which could lead to thermal runaway and catastrophic failure.[1] The use of redox shuttles increases the safety and stability of LIBs. 1,4-Di-tert-butyl-2,5-bis (2-methoxyethoxy)benzene is an important redox shuttle used for overcharge protection in batteries.[1][2][3]
