Magnesium is generally used in the preparation of various organomagnesium compounds such as Grignard reagents, that are widely used in organic synthesis.[1][2][3][4]
It can also be used to catalyze Pinacol coupling,[5] Reformatsky reaction[6] and degradation of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).[7]
