Molecular Sieve, Type 3A is a synthetic crystalline aluminosilicate (potassium form crystal structure or type A zeolite) with an effective pore diameter of 3 Å. It is used as an effective adsorbent. It adsorbs molecules having a kinetic diameter of less than 3 Å and excludes molecules with a kinetic diameter of greater than 3 Å.[1][2][3]

应用

Molecular Sieve, Type 3A can be used:
  • As a selective adsorbent for the adsorption of water and ammonia.[4]
  • In drying polar liquids such as methanol and ethanol.[2][4]
  • In commercial dehydration of unsaturated hydrocarbon streams, including cracked gas, propylene, butene, and natural gas.[5][6][7]

  1. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.   2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

    1. No, this product is not food-grade. Currently, a food-grade product option is not available.

  4. Is there a regeneration procedure for these Molecular Sieve dessicants ?

    1. Molecular sieves can be dried in a drying oven above 250°C to a water content of 2-3 g/100 g. The remaining water can be removed at 300-350°C using a vacuum oil pump (10-1-10-3 mbar), whereby, as is usual, a cold trap containing carbon dioxide coolant or liquid air should be connected. Water pumps, due to their high partial water vapor pressure, are completely unsuitable for this purpose. For safety reasons, molecular sieves that have been used to dry solvents should be freed from possible solvent by mixing with water before regeneration. This can be carried out as often as required; the maximum regeneration temperature is 450°C.
