一般描述

Phosphatidylcholines (PC) are the building blocks of eukaryotic membranes. It is also found at high levels in Caenorhabditis elegans lipid extracts.[1] PC is an important component of the mucosal layer of the colon.[2] It is a strong bilayer-forming lipid.[3]

应用

TopFluor PC may be used to test the incorporation of circulating phosphatidylcholine into the myelin sheath.[4] It may also be used in liposome generation.[5]

生化/生理作用

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) functions as a surfactant within the mucus to form a hydrophobic surface to inhibit bacterial penetrance.[2] It is used to treat fat embolism. Phosphatidylcholine lowers the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.[6]
