Gene Information

human ... FGF7(2252)

General description

The gene FGF7 (fibroblast growth factor 7) is mapped to human chromosome 15q21.1. The encoded protein belongs to the fibroblast growth factor family and is secreted by mesenchymal cells.
The Human FGF-7 ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human FGF-7 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine.

Immunogen

Recombinant Human FGF7

Application

Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

FGF7 (fibroblast growth factor 7) is involved in the development of skin and sweat glands, wound healing and cutaneous homeostasis. It controls keratinocyte differentiation and viability by modulating autophagy. FGF7 also participates in embryonic development, tumorigenesis, cell proliferation, migration and differentiation. It is linked with several disorders like nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate, thyroid volume, goiter risk and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. FGF7 plays an important role in the morphology of developing lungs. Absence of the FGF7 activity decreases airway branching during development. During injury, it is involved in airway repair.

Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. Will the Human FGF-7 ELISA kit (BAB0188) detect mouse FGF7?

    1 answer
    1. The Human FGF-7 ELISA kit has not been tested for cross-reactivity to mouse, so we cannot confirm if it can detect mouse FGF-7. However, we do offer a Mouse FGF-7 ELISA with the catalog number RAB1123.

      Helpful?

  2. What is the specificity of the Human FGF7 ELISA antibodies (RAB0188)?

    1 answer
    1. The capture antibody utilized in this kit is a mouse monoclonal antibody with an immunogen of aa32-194 of human FGF-7 (accession # P21781). Meanwhile, the detection antibody is a goat polyclonal antibody with the immunogen of aa32-194 of human FGF-7 (accession # Q6FGV5).

      Helpful?

  3. Is there a detailed protocol for this (the general sandwich protocol is not specific enough)? E.g. the kit FGF-7 concentrate for the standard curve - no concentration is written on the vial. And there is no information on how to make serial dilutions.

    1 answer
    1. Using the lot number on the product you purchased, you can access the lot-specific CofA to view the procedure and concentration. Example CofA using lot number 0922J0245: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/certificates/Graphics/COfAInfo/SigmaABNO/RAB0188_0922J0245.pdf
