Raffinose pentahydrate is a crystalline form of pharmaceutical sugar, raffinose which may act as ′scavengers′ or ′reservoirs′ for water with the pharmaceutical formulations.

Application

D-(+)-Raffinose pentahydrate may be used as a standard for the determination of free sugars of plants for separating the trimethylsilyl ethers by gas chromatography method.
