This product has not been validated for sputum. For sputum samples, it is recommended to add a protease inhibitor cocktail at a concentration of 1:500. Centrifugation should be performed at 10,000 rpm for 10 minutes, and the supernatant should be diluted 1:2 with sample diluent buffer D prior to assay setup. If necessary, samples can be ultra-centrifuged for 4 hours at 38,000 rpm.

The Human Procalcitonin ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human Procalcitonin in cell culture supernatants and urine. Note: The detection range of this kit is 30 pg/ml - 20000 pg/ml. Procalcitonin is low in normal serum and may be undetectable with this assay.
