MAP4K2 (Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase kinase 2) gene encodes a serine/threonine protein kinase that regulates JNK and p38 pathways involved in pathogen-associated molecular pattern signaling and systemic inflammation for efficient innate immune response. It forms a complex with tumor-necrosis factor receptor associated factor 6 and mixed lineage protein kinase 3 upon pathogen-associated molecular pattern stimulation. This complex stabilizes MAP4K2 and activates JNK/p38 pathway.
