General description

Homeobox B8 (HOXB8) protein belongs to the homeobox (HOX) containing complex. HOXB8 gene is expressed in the spinal cord during embryonic development. The HOXB8 gene is located on the human chromosome at 17q21.32.

Application

Anti-HOXB8 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Anti-HOXB8 (C-terminal) recognizes human HOXB8 (also known as Hox-2D, Hox-2).
Overexpression of the homeobox B8 (HOXB8) gene is identified as a cause for leukemia. The encoded protein prevents myeloid differentiation by a mechanism that requires interaction with pre‐B‐cell leukemia homeobox (Pbx) protein.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phos­phate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Preparation Note

Store at –20 °C. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots at –20 °C. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
