General description

Dexamethasone is an anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid with a range of effects on cell survival, cell signaling and gene expression. It is useful for study of apoptosis, cell signaling pathways and gene expression.

Application

Dexamethasone was used as medium supplement in the following studies:
  • To investigate the osteogenic differentiation and chondrogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).[1]
  • In α-MEM (minimum essential medium) for inducing the osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation in mesenchymal stem cells from human bone marrow and umbilical cord blood.[2]
  • For the isolation and characterization of mesenchymal stem cells isolated from 6- to 8-week-old C57BL/6J mice.[3]

Glucocorticoid anti-inflammatory agent
Glucocorticoid anti-inflammatory agent. Regulates T cell survival, growth, and differentiation. Inhibits the induction of nitric oxide synthase.
