Biochem/physiol Actions
Corticosterone is synthesized from cholesterol in the adrenal cortex that activates both mineralocorticoid and glucocorticoid receptors. The role of corticosterones is vital for reproductive processes including ovulation, lutenization, development of oocytes, parturition and lactation. The metabolism of corticosterone is modulated by the enzyme 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.[8][9]
