General description

o-Cresol is a phenol derivative and an isomer of cresol. It is commercially used as a component of cleaning agents. o-Cresol is an intermediate in the production of dyes and pharmaceuticals.
This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food.
