1α,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 has been used as a supplement:
  • to study its effects on endothelial functions in high glucose-conditioned human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs)[1]
  • to study the  osteogenic effect of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP2) in human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs)[2]
  • in osteogenic differentiation medium for osteogenic differentiation of  bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs)[3]

Biologically active form of vitamin D3 in calcium absorption and deposition.
Biologically active form of vitamin D3 in calcium absorption and deposition. 1α,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 has widespread effects on cellular differentiation and proliferation, and can modulate immune responsiveness, and central nervous system function. Recent studies suggest that 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 acts as a chemopreventive agent against several malignancies including cancers of the prostate and colon and shows synergy with other anticancer compounds.
Cholecalciferol is an inactive form of vitamin D3 which undergoes various levels of hydroxylation to form active vitamin D3 analogs. 1α-Hydroxyvitamin D3 (alfacalcidol is a synthetic analog that is metabolized to 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol, the biologically active form of vitamin D3 in calcium absorption and deposition. 1α,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 has widespread effects on cellular differentiation and proliferation, and can modulate immune responsiveness, and central nervous system function. Recent studies suggest that 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 acts as a chemopreventive agent against several malignancies including cancers of the prostate and colon and shows synergy with other anticancer compounds.

  1. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  2. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.   3. I can't see anything in the vial. How should Product D1530, 1´,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3, look?

    1. D1530 is packaged by dispensing a solution into the vials, then drying them under inert gas. The product will be a thin film in the bottom of the vial, so it may appear to be empty by visual inspection.

  4. What is the best way to store stock solutions of Product D1530, 1?,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3?

    1. 1?,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 is both air and light sensitive, so should be stored under inert gas at either -20 or -70°C.  The length of time a stock solution can be stored depends on how carefully air is excluded from the solution. If care is taken to exclude air, stock solutions may be stable indefinitely at -20°C.

  6. How can I dissolve Product D1530, ?,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3, for cell culture use?

    1. 1?,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 is soluble in serveral organic solvents, including methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate, and tetrahydrofuran. For cell culture use, a 10 μM stock solution can be prepared and diluted to the working concentration in cell culture media.
