A potent competitive antagonist selective for AMPA/kainate glutamate receptors (IC₅₀ = 0.19-1.66 µM and 0.35 µM for AMPA and GluK2 receptors, respectively). Routinely used as a tool to distinguish the role of neurotransmissions mediated by AMPA/kainate and NMDA receptors in studying brain functions and disorders.
