Anti-HDAC8 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total HDAC8 protein.
The HDAC8 (histone deacetylase 8) gene is mapped to human chromosome Xq13.1. The encoded protein belongs to the class 1 histone deacetylase family.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human HDAC8.
Immunogen Range: 5-54
Biochem/physiol Actions
The HDAC8 (histone deacetylase 8) protein is significantly involved in cartilage development and matrix-specific gene transcription by catalyzing histone acetylation. HDAC8 has Zn2+-dependent hydrolase activity that deacetylates the acetyl lysine residues of both histone and non-histone proteins. Deacetylation of structural maintenance of chromosome protein 3(SMC3) by HDAC8 is necessary for recycling of cohesin complex during cell cycle. Mutation in the gene is observed in Cornelia de Lange syndrome which is characterised by mental retardation and facial deformity.
