FGF-2 (fibroblast growth factor 2) is a basic heparin binding growth factor.[1] It is ubiquitously expressed and belongs to the FGF family.[2] It is also referred to as BFGF (basic fibroblast growth factor). The recombinant mouse FGF-2 is a single, non-glycosylated chain containing 145 amino acids and having a molecular weight of 16.3kDa.
생화학적/생리학적 작용
FGF-2 (fibroblast growth factor 2, also referred to as BFGF (basic fibroblast growth factor)) stimulates the proliferation of a wide variety of cells including mesenchymal, neuroectodermal and endothelial cells.[3][4][5] It is present in the preimplantation embryos and is important for proper development.[6] It is also responsible for angiogenesis.[2] FGF-2 plays a crucial role in adipogenesis and development of adipose tissues.[7] It is associated with tumor growth and metastasis.[8]
