Anti-Progesterone receptor antibody detects endogenous levels of total progesterone receptor protein.

The progesterone receptor (PR) gene is mapped to human chromosome 11q22–23. The gene encodes for two isoforms, namely PR-A and PR-B, each of which is transcribed from a specific promoter region. The encoded receptor belongs to the family of steroid hormone receptors.

PR expression might serve as a biomarker in axillary lymph node (ALN) metastasis. Abnormal expression of PR is observed in breast cancer.
