생화학적/생리학적 작용

SNX19 (Sorting nexin-19) is a protein is encoded by the gene SNZ19 that belongs to the sorting nexin family of genes that encode cellular trafficking proteins. The encoded protein interacts with IA-2 (islet-antigen 2), a major autoantigen in type I diabetes. IA-2 is involved in the regulation of insulin secretion and is present in dense-core secretory vesicles. SNX19 binds to PtdIns (phosphatidylinositol) via the Phox (PX) domain and inhibits phosphoinositide-dependent kinase (PDK)-1 and Akt/Protein kinase B phosphorylation. This results in inhibition of phosphorylation of proteins involved in PDK-1 and Akt/PKB signaling pathways, in turn activating caspases causing apoptosis.
