NSAID;非アセチル化アスピリンアナログ

サルサラートは、サリチル酸の非アセチル化型の非ステロイド性抗炎症薬(NSAID)であり、プラセボと比較して消化管出血の問題もありません。シクロオキシゲナーゼ-1および-2(COX-1、COX-2)の不活性化を通じ、プロスタグランジンの合成と放出を阻害します。サルサラートは現在、2型糖尿病の治療薬として検討が進んでおり、そのリスクがある人々に対しても予防目的で使用できる可能性が考えられています。2型糖尿病患者のほか、糖尿病を伴わないインスリン抵抗性患者においても、血中グルコース濃度を低下させる効果がみられています。
