Vesicular acetylcholine transporter (UniProt: Q16572; also known as VAChT, Solute carrier family 18 member 3) is encoded by the SLC18A3 (also known as VACHT) gene (Gene ID: 6572) in human. Acetylcholine (ACh) is synthesized in nerve terminals from choline and acetyl coenzyme A by the action of choline acetyltransferase and then it is transported into synaptic vesicles, where it is stored until release. VAChT is a multi-pass membrane glycoprotein with seven cytoplasmic domains, twelve transmembrane domains, and six lumenal vesicle domains. It is expressed in peripheral and central cholinergic nervous systems and is involved in acetylcholine transport into synaptic vesicles. VAChT serves as an antiporter that couples ACh entry into the vesicle with proton efflux that allows for the accumulation of ACh at high concentrations. Overexpression of VAChT is shown to increase ACh at the synaptic cleft and accelerate aging of neuromuscular junction and motor deficits in SOD1 (G93A) mice. Mutations in SLC18A3 gene are known to cause congenital Myasthenic syndrome that is characterized by failure of neuromuscular transmission, including pre-synaptic, synaptic, and post-synaptic disorders that leads to easy fatigability and muscle weakness. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals. Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.
