Heat shock protein family B, member 2 (HSPB2) is also called as myotonic dystrophy kinase binding protein (MKBP). It is expressed in the skeletal muscles and heart. Studies have also shown that HSPB2 is overexpressed in lung fibrosis. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 11q22-q23. The gene ID of the protein is 3316.

生物化学的/生理学的作用
Heat shock protein family B, member 2 (HSPB2) binds to ubiquitin and hydrogen peroxide-inducible clone 5, an adaptor protein. This association is important for the ubiquitination and degradation of NADPH oxidase 4 (Nox4). It is also crucial for the degradation of other proteins. HSPB2 interacts with myotonic dystrophy protein kinase (DMPK) and activates it.

Hydrogen peroxide-inducible clone 5 (Hic-5) is a focal adhesion adaptor protein induced by the profibrotic cytokine TGF-β1. We have demonstrated previously that TGF-β1 induces myofibroblast differentiation and lung fibrosis by activation of the reactive oxygen species-generating enzyme NADPH oxidase 4
