研究領域：細胞シグナル伝達スーパーオキシドジスムターゼ（SOD）は、微生物、植物、動物の好気性細胞すべてに存在する低分子量タンパク質です。マンガン SOD、銅–亜鉛 SOD、細胞外 SOD など、3 つの異なるファミリーとして存在しています。[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions
スーパーオキシドジムスターゼは、スーパーオキシドラジカルを過酸化水素と分子状酸素に分解する反応を触媒します。酸素ラジカルの毒性から細胞を保護する上で重要な役割を果たしています。スーパーオキシドアニオン（一酸化窒素（NO）と反応してペルオキシナイトライトを生成）と一酸化窒素（NO）が競合するため、SOD は NO の活性を促進します。SOD は、培養ラット卵巣卵濾胞、神経細胞株、および遺伝子導入マウスにおいてアポトーシスを抑制することも明らかにされています。
