General description
LH、FSH、TSHのものと同一の92アミノ酸で構成されるα鎖と、LH、FSH、TSHのものとは異なる149アミノ酸で構成されるβ鎖からなる糖タンパク質ホルモンです。絨毛組織によって産生され、妊娠初期の黄体の維持に関与しています。また、栄養膜腫瘍によっても産生され、遊離hCG β鎖と高度にグリコシル化されたhCGの増加によって特徴づけられます。
注:真の分子量は糖鎖付加の程度により幅があり、理論上の分子量とは異なります。理論上の分子量は、2つのサブユニットを含む天然型で37.9 kDaです。α = 14.9 kDa (ポリペプチド:約10.2 kDa、糖:約4.7 kDa), β = 23.0 kDa (ポリペプチド:約16.0 kDa、糖:約7.0 kDa) 参照:J. Biol.Chem. 248, 6796-6827 (1973).
