生物化学的／生理学的作用
オーロラBは染色体移動と分離期の微小管に関連するオーロラキナーゼファミリーのメンバーです。キネトコア付近の微小管の中でも、特にK-ファイバーと呼ばれる特定の微小管に局在しています。オーロラBはMCAK(mitotic centromere-associated kinesin)のSer92をリン酸化することにより、MCAKの微小管脱重合活性を阻害します。また、このリン酸化はキネトコアからセントロメアへのMCAKの局在転移を制御しています。オーロラBの阻害により顕著な抗増殖性の表現型が生じていることから、オーロラBは抗癌剤開発の新たなターゲットと目されています。
