  1. Does this homogenizer denature tissue proteins? For example, will homogenized tissues still be suitable for use in determining how small molecules are bound to the tissue proteins (either through a dialysis or ultracentrifugation assay)?

    1. This product is manufactured by Benchmark Scientific Inc. According to the supplier, proteins will generally survive the bead-beating process. It is recommended to monitor heat build-up. Start with all components cold and run the unit in short bursts with a rest between cycles. Don't overprocess the samples. If these guidelines are followed, multi-subunit enzymes can retain activity following bead beating. However, if the protein is membrane-bound, disruption may cause denaturation.
