Descrizione generale

The antibody detects endogenous level of total Tubulin -βIII protein.
Tubulin β-III (TUBB3) is a constituent of microtubules. It is expressed in mature neurons. It is located on human chromosome 16q24.

Immunogeno

Peptide sequence around aa. 442-446 (E-E-S-E-A), according to the protein NP_006077.2

Applicazioni

Anti-Tubulin β-III antibody has been used in immunocytochemistry and western blot analysis.

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Upregulation of tubulin β-III (TUBB3) shows vigorous tumor characteristics and genetic instability in urinary bladder cancer. It participates in the separation of chromosome. Individuals with congenital fibrosis of the extraocular muscle type 3 (CFEOM3) show mutations in TUBB3. βIII-tubulin modulates glucose metabolism, thereby transforms glucose starvation stress signaling to develop the multiplication of cell and survival in non-small cell lung cancer cells.

Descrizione del bersaglio

Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules. It binds two moles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha-chain. TUBB3 plays a critical role in proper axon guidance and mantainance.
